Information
Situated in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, the grand cru of Clos de la Roche is distinguished by its clay-limestone soils rich in marl and stones, providing excellent drainage and encouraging deep-rooted vines. This exceptional terroir, combined with a continental climate, allows the Pinot Noir grapes to develop remarkable concentration of flavours and complexity. The history of Clos de la Roche spans several centuries and is undoubtedly a cornerstone of the reputation of the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation. After a manual harvest and gentle destemming, fermentation takes place in wooden vats, followed by ageing in oak barrels, including new wood, for around 18 months. This process subtly integrates the oak aromas while preserving the fruit’s character.
This 100% Pinot Noir wine presents a rich, intense red colour. The nose is complex, with aromas of black cherry, raspberry, violet, and delicate spices. The palate is rich and velvety, with fine, silky tannins, offering a beautiful structure and a long finish.
