Information
Alex Gambal resembles the many Americans who have fallen in love with Burgundy, except that he decided to settle there and produce his own wine. In 1997, he moved to Beaune and developed his trading firm. Today he is supported by Alexandre Brault, who also abandoned the world of finance to devote himself to wine. Within a few years, the pair won over the local community and beyond. Maison Alex Gambal has recently partnered with the Domaine Christophe Buisson to vinify its own 20 hectares of vineyards, moving against the current trend of wine growers who complete their activity through trading
Alex Gambal. An unusual presence on the Burgundy scene, this American, enamoured of the region, moved to Beaune at the end of the 1990s to create his own wine trading business and, acquired some 20 hectares over the years. His Chambolle-Musigny is produced from Pinot Noir grapes grown in an oceanic climate with a semi-continental influence. Meticulous cultivation encouraged the vines to draw on the nutrients necessary to flourish from the soil. Aged in oak, this wine shows excellent ageing potential, ranging from 10 to 20 years for the best vintages. The wine reveals a dense, rich colour, inviting you to dip your nose into the glass. This reveals an anthology of aromatic notes, each more powerful than the last, yet each more elegant than the last too. Red and black fruit, liquorice, violet and precious woods are complemented by hints of humus, leather and fur. The tannins are abundant and undeniably velvety.
