    Information
    About the producer

The Morey family has been working in the vineyard in Meursault since 1793. Domaine Pierre Morey was created in 1971, from the family domaine, and is still managed by Pierre Morey, a former manager of the Domaine Leflaive, assisted by his daughter Anne. The 11-hectare domaine is spread over the communes of Monthelie, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet and especially Meursault; it is worked using the biodynamic approach. Pierre Morey also created a small trading business in 1992, Morey-Blanc, where the cuvées are carefully selected. The quality of the terroirs and the talents of the wine grower produce outstanding white wines, widely recognised but also very fine red wines. The whites are one of the best of Burgundian hierarchy. Unfortunately, the quantities available are low, and the bottles very rare for connoisseurs around the world. So, when you find them on iDealwine, don’t delay!

    About the wine

The Genevrières plot, nestled in the southern part of the Meursault appellation, lies a few kilometres south of Beaune in the heart of the emblematic Côtes des Blancs terroir. The Chardonnay vines enjoy an ideal south-easterly exposure, providing the perfect balance of sunshine for the grapes to reach peak ripeness. The climat’s name comes from the genévriers (French for junipers), small shrubs with prickly needles and purple berries that used to grow on the region’s limestone soils. The hand-picked Chardonnay grapes are sorted and crushed before passing through a pneumatic membrane press. The musts macerate in vats for around 24 hours, during which time a light natural static settling will retain only the best lees. Alcoholic fermentation is conducted in oak casks and followed by a 16-month ageing period before bottling.
The pale yellow colour reveals a concentrated yet elegant bouquet, with aromas of almond, bread and fine spices mingling with light hints of toasted dried fruit. The ample, generous palate reveals indulgent notes of vanilla, accented by hints of citrus fruit, leading to a finish of incredible length. This cuvée can easily be cellared for several decades.
