Information
Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, the Domaine Morey-Coffinet is a 8.5 hectare vineyard resulting from joining the domaines of Marc Morey and Fernand Coffinet. Most of the vineyards are located in Chassagne-Montrachet, including the famous premier crus la Romanée, Remilly and les Caillerets, but the domaine also has plots in Puligny-Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet. The vines are grown organically (under certification) and the aging is done in oak barrels which can be up to 60% new depending on the vintages and cuvées.
The vineyard epitomises this new generation of Burgundy winegrowers, who are rigorous, passionate and most importantly, convinced that there can all fine wines stem from a genuine respect for the soil and biodiversity. In the vineyard, the estate strives to harvest perfectly ripe grapes that express their full range of aromatic nuances with purity and authenticity. The estate produces a perfect blend of grapes from old Pinot Noir vines to create a complex, balanced wine. In the winery, the wine is aged carefully in 228 and 350 litre casks, with less than a third new wood.
The elegant ruddy-red colour adorned with subtle purplish tints promises an expressive bouquet. The nose is indeed extremely intense revealing delicious aromas of cherry and blueberry. The perfectly structured, fruity palate beautifully reveals the very best of what this Burgundy appellation has to offer.
