Information
Domaine Michelot extends over 8 hectares between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Morey-Saint-Denis and half of its wines are premier crus. The property goes back to the 19th century, since around 1880. Four generations of winemakers have succeeded one another ever since. Alain Michelot is still present on the domaine, but it is really his daughter Elodie and her husband who are now responsible for wine production. Under their leadership, the wines have gained in elegance and the domaine has been operating a parcel of Clos Vougeot since 2010
A family estate handed down from one generation to the next, since it was founded at the end of the 19th century, Domaine Michelot presents us with a Nuits-Saint-Georges from the En La Pierre Noblot Premier Cru. As you can imagine, this white wine is a rarity in an appellation where Pinot Noir, and consequently red wine, is king. The Chardonnay?–?a typical noble grape variety of the region?–?used to produce this wine has benefited from an oceanic climate with a semi-continental influence, and drawn the nutrients necessary to flourish from the rich limestone and marl soils. Aged in wood, the wine offers excellent ageing potential, reaching 10 years in the best vintages. On tasting, it reveals a pale yellow colour with green reflections that turn golden with age. Notes of white and yellow fruit rise from the glass, combined with hints of fresh almond and pastry. This is most definitely a gastronomic wine.
