Information
Domaine Gérérard Mugneret in Vosne-Romanée is not very well known or widespread and this is a shame. Gérard Mugneret and his wife Françoise have indeed raised their company to a very high level. The vineyard is now run by their son Pascal maintaining the same philosophy. The wines are exceptional, in a perfectly classical style, particularly expressive whilst retaining great finesse and considerable subtlety.
The distinctive feature of the Quatrain cuvée is that it is a combination of four different terroirs, which explains its name. The vines from the Réas and Jaquines parcels are located in the south, on very well-drained, clay-limestone soils. The Ormes and Chalendins parcels are located in the north. The Pinot Noir is able to reflect the characteristics of each parcel and each of the different soils brilliantly. At harvest time, the grapes are collected by hand in order to protect the fruits and ensure a high-quality raw material. In the cellar, each terroir is vinified separately before being carefully mixed. Vinifications are done using traditional methods.
The crystal red colour is enhanced by an intense nose, reflecting tasty cherry flavours, accompanied by slightly acidic notes. On the palate, the fine tannins blend perfectly with the ripe and fruity juices, leading to a smooth and delightful finish.
