Information
The Palacios Remondo family can boast a winemaking pedigree dating back to 1651. Today, Alvaro Palacios is at the helm of the family domaine and produces some of Spain’s finest wines. Voted Spain’s most sensational wine producer by Wine Spectator, Alvaro Palacios places particular emphasis on vine management and avoids the use of chemicals wherever possible. His wines have big personalities, just like the man himself.
The Grenache grapes originate from a single plot nestling in the Ebro valley, consisting of limestone and clay-iron sediments. The vines, which average 30 years and rise from a gentle slope, flourish as a result of organic farming practices. Neither fertilisers nor chemical weedkillers are used, allowing the fruit to express its full personality naturally. In the winery, the grapes are lightly destemmed before being pressed. Alcoholic fermentation then occurs in wooden vats with the help of indigenous yeasts naturally present on the fruit. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation is then carried out in large casks. The final step is to age the wine in tuns for 18 months before bottling.
The elegant vermilion colour reveals an expressive nose of red berries and black cherries. The fruity aromas reveal a hint of orange leading to a generous finish.
