Information
After many years working in medical equipment engineering, Pierre Andrey decided to craft his own cuvées with the help of his partner, Florence Bouleaux. He started by completing a demanding apprenticeship with his friends Michel Gahier, an eminent winemaker in the Jura region, and Alexandre Jouveaux, a talented winemaker in Burgundy. This is where he discovered all the secrets and benefits of natural, low-intervention viticulture and vinification methods. He successfully acquired his first plot of Pinot Noir, located near Metz, with the support of his friend Bruno Schueller, a leading ambassador for Alsatian wines. Thanks to harvests that Pierre and Florence carried out at Bruno’s, they vinified a few litres of Pinot Gris, which they bottled in 2014. The wine produced is called “dame-jeanne” (literally Lady Jane, commonly referred to as demijohn in English) after the container in which they aged this nectar! The vineyard continued to develop year after year.
In the vineyard, Pierre Andrey’s work is meticulous and precise. The winemaker favours working with a single grape variety and, of course, parcel by parcel, to enhance the qualities of a specific terroir and variety. The grapes are pressed in a small press, providing a unique experience with every tasting of a wine from this estate. The estate’s demijohn ageing process has become legendary.
The most discerning Lorraine wine connoisseurs eagerly seek out the estate’s vintages given their limited and exclusive production.
