Information
Renowned for being the only estate bearing the Côtes de Provence appellation, the family estate was founded in 1925 under the impetus of Joseph. Today, the vineyard, located in Villars-sur-Var, north of Nice, is run by his grandson Roch and Constance Malangé. The five hectares of vines benefit from an Alpine and Mediterranean climate. This rare environment allows each vine to develop grapes that are extremely fresh and particularly concentrated. These vines, the majority of which date back to the time of the 100-year-old grandfather, are carefully cultivated according to biodynamic principles. The family estate cultivates two native grape varieties, Barbaroux and Grassin, as well as varieties typical of the region, such as Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon and many others. The winemakers do everything to sublimate the Provençal scrubland they love so much through their enchanting cuvées.
The Syrah vines, perfectly suited to the heat of Provence, thrive on a magnificent mountain of limestone soils that are covered with fine gravel. Each parcel, surrounded by steep walls, is cultivated in a healthy and sustainable way, using biodynamic methods. Fertilisers and chemical weed killers are not used, allowing the vines to freely express their personality and their character. Once harvested at optimum ripeness, whole bunches are vinified using minimal intervention. Finally, the wine is aged for 18 months in new barrels before being carefully transferred to bottles.
The bright crimson-red colour unveils an expressive nose marked by delicate floral aromas with notes of ripe fruits. On the palate, the fine tannins are balanced perfectly with a great freshness, leading to a deliciously long finish. It can either be enjoyed in its youth or after a few years in the cellar.
