The cellars at Maison Patriarche are reputed to be the largest in Burgundy, contributing to the outstanding reputation of the region and particularly of the town of Beaune, where the House is located. The story began in 1780, when Jean-Baptise Patriarche acquired the Visitandines convent, with its sumptuous galleries providing the ideal setting for his wine business. Following the end of the Second World War, the owner André Boisseaux decided to acquire 35 neighbouring cellars, creating the great House we know today. Since the early days, the family business has purchased wine from partner winemakers and aged it in its cellars. Jean-Baptiste Patriarche started to enjoy international success at the end of the 18th century. The company continued to be run by successive generations until it was sold to the French Castel group in 2011, which continues to develop and build its worldwide reputation.
