Information
The Vaudoisey family settled in Volnay in the picturesque Burgundy region in 1804. From the outset, they dedicated their lives to growing vines and producing fine wines. Since then, more than eight successive generations have passed on their traditional, exacting expertise. Today, it is Christophe Vaudoisey, Bernard Vaudoisey’s son, who dedicates his life to showcasing this exceptional terroir. Christophe and his wife Laurence took over the reins of the family business in 1985, and undertook extensive renovation work on their grandparents’ house in the heart of the village, providing them with a perfectly restored reception cellar to welcome their customers. Well aware of the environmental issues at stake and convinced of the benefits they can offer, the domain applies sustainable viticulture practices and the vinification process is low-interventionist. Foreign customers, restaurants, wine fairs and private clients are all unanimous in their praise for the domain’s wines.
Domaine Vaudoisey stretches across the communes of Volnay, Pommard, Monthélie and Meursault, and is steeped in a rich viticultural history and ancestral know-how that has been carefully handed down from one generation to the next. The Pinot Noir vines, averaging over 70 years of age, stem from the Clos des Chênes climat, an emblematic area within the commune of Volnay. In the vineyard, the estate applies the principles of sustainable viticulture. The hand-picked grapes are completely destemmed and placed in vats for around ten days, during which time the cap is regularly punched down and pumped over. The wine is then matured in oak casks for 16 to 18 months before being lightly filtered and bottled without fining.
A deep ruby colour complemented by an intense nose of black fruit and subtle hints of spice. On the palate, fruity aromas strike a perfect balance with elegant tannins.
