About the producer

Daughter of Paul Pernot, a prestigious winemaker in Puligny-Montrachet, Alvina Pernot has been working alongside her father since 2017. In addition, she decided to fulfil her dream and produce her own cuvées, together with her husband. As a result, she has developed her own line under the name Alvina Pernot, using wines from the family vineyard and grapes purchased from partner winegrowers and friends. The couple takes great pride in working with premium quality raw materials produced from sustainable, environmentally friendly viticulture. In the winery, Alvina and her husband age their wines on their lees in oak casks, without racking until bottling. The couple use a very small proportion of new casks, with a maximum of 20%, to avoid an excessive woody mark on the wines. Alvina Pernot’s wines are the fruit of passionate and rigorous work, combined with the heritage of a unique and traditional expertise.

About the wine

The wonderful Bâtard-Montrachet vineyard, located at the foot of the symbolic Montrachet hill, is considered one of the best terroirs for Chardonnay, and known to produce complex, fragrant wines with exceptional ageing potential. Each parcel receives specific, meticulous care to allow the terroir and the grape variety to naturally unveil their personalities. In the cellar, the grapes are vinified with as little additives as possible. Eventually, the wine is aged on lees for 11 to 12 months in oak barrels before being bottled. In order to avoid imparting too much of a woody aroma on the wine, the estate uses almost exclusively used barrels.
The elegant pale yellow colour with bright highlights reveals an expressive nose marked by aromas of almonds and vanilla. The full and round palate offers indulgent flavours of brioche, leading to a delicate and mineral finish. It is a cuvée which will reveal a divine aromatic palate after being aged for some years.
