The estate has been sublimating the finest appellations in the Burgundy viticultural landscape for seven generations. François Berthaut started cultivating a few hectares of vines in Fixin at the end of the 18th century. Over the years, generations of winemakers have succeeded one another at the head of the estate. In 1974, Vincent and Denis took over from their father Guy Berthaut and were particularly active in expanding the estate by acquiring new parcels of Fixin village and Fixin Premier Cru. They also built a new cellar in 2005. In 2013, Amélie, Denis Berthaut and Marie-Andrée Gerbet’s daughter, took over the family business, creating the Berthaut-Gerbet estate we know today. Since 2017, with her husband Nicolas Faure at her side, Amélie has been cultivating the 18 hectares of vines with the utmost respect for the environment, applying the principles of integrated viticulture with an organic approach.
