Information
The Grivelet Père et Fils vineyard, located in the heart of the rolling hills of the Côte de Beaune, produces red and white wines, in Premier Cru and Grand Cru, reflecting the flavours of internationally acclaimed appellations. The Dukes of Burgundy already appreciated the richness and fiery character of the wines produced on the Côte de Beaune in the late Middle Ages. The reputation of the region’s terroir was established there and then, never to fade. In those days, the wines were known as vin de Beaune. It wasn’t until 1936 that cuvées produced from these vineyards were labelled as Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée. Located between 300 and 370 metres above sea level, each plot benefits from plenty of sunshine, with the vines facing the morning sun. As a result, Grivelet Père et Fils craft a range of authentic, delicious and aromatic cuvées that reflect the region and its renowned appellations.
The terroir of Echézeaux, at the heart of the Vosne-Romanée appellation, produces refined, subtle red wines of outstanding reputation. Nestling at an altitude of around 250 metres, the Pinot Noir vines stretch along a gently sloping hillside. The clay-limestone soils of the prestigious Echézeaux terroir provide all the vital nutrients required for healthy vine growth. Once in the winery, the Pinot Noir grapes are vinified in the purest Burgundy tradition. The cuvée is then aged for several months in oak casks before being bottled.
The ruby-red colour complemented by dark tints heralds a highly expressive bouquet. The nose is indeed characterised by intense aromas of spice, undergrowth and dried plum. The elegant, complex palate exudes aromas of rose and violet, perfectly integrated with supple tannins, leading to a finish of incomparable roundness.
