Information
For more than two centuries, the history of the Domaine de la Garenne has been the story of a passion for winemaking handed from one generation to the next. A rich inheritance, the property became the property of Count Jean de Balincourt, who spent his life nurturing and developing it, resulting in 25 hectares of land today. His daughter Béatrix has been at the reins since early 2000, pouring her heart and soul into perpetuating the ancestral skills inherited from her family. In the vineyards, each aspect of viticulture is constantly reviewed to produce cuvées in an increasingly healthy and sustainable way. The vineyard holds the French Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value) certification. The domain, situated in the picturesque commune of La Cadière d’Azur, produces powerful red and rosé wines in the Bandol appellation, earning the family business its signature reputation.
This 100% Chardonnay cuvée is a tasty blend of grapes harvested from the south-west-facing hillside parcels of La Ruère and La Moule, nestling near the village of Pouilly. To preserve the fruits quality, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand before being sorted and completely destalked. The fruit is then pressed with a pneumatic press to obtain the juice, which is kept in temperature-controlled vats for 24 hours, before undergoing a cold static settling stage. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are conducted in casks. The cuvée is then aged for ten months in Burgundy casks, with 30% new wood, and two further months in vats before being bottled.
The golden colour with green reflections reveals an intense, complex nose of exotic fruit combined with subtle hints of sage. The ample palate is complemented by a sumptuous minerality culminating in a deliciously fresh and persistent finish.
