Information
These Syrah vines are between 60 and 90 years old and wind through some of the most beautiful vineland in the region: the Côte Brune. It’s said that the name dates back to the 16th century when Lord Maugiron divided his Cote-Rôtie estate between his two daughters. The two parts were poetically named Côte Brune and Côte Blonde, after his brown- and blond-haired daughters. Both in the vineyards and at the winery, only organic methods are used. After being harvested, the grapes are fermented whole using the native yeast that is naturally present on the skin. Lastly, the wine is aged for 18 months in demi-muids before being carefully bottled.
This cuvée is surprisingly vibrant yet delicate, with bright and subtle aromas of black fruit mixed with floral and peppery notes. The mouthfeel is exquisite: hints of spice blossom into a delightfully long finish. This cuvée can be cellared for 15 years.
