Information
Let’s head for the Luberon, a vineyard enjoying a renaissance thanks to winemakers like Jean-Marie Guffens, nicknamed the ‘white wine goldsmith’, who strive to produce perfectly balanced terroir wines. This version of the Tinus cuvée is a blend of Viognier cultivated on the Aigle plateau outside Apt, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in southeastern France, at an altitude of 400 metres. This southern variety enjoys plenty of sunshine and wide variations in temperature during the day, ideal for grapes to ripen slowly and develop the acidity necessary for a balanced wine. In addition, the Viognier vines resulting from a selection of the most robust vine plants with some 5,500 plants per hectare are strongly influenced by the limestone terroir.
Once in the winery, the hand-picked grapes are gently pressed and only the first press juice is vinified and rapidly aged in c casks for three ms.nths The wine is then placed in tulip-shaped concrete vats to refine its freshness.
Delicious during its first eight years, this wine reveals a golden-tinged yellow colour revealing a rich fragrance. Notes of honey, yellow flowers, apricot, violet, candied citrus and exotic fruit lead to an almost unctuous palate culminating in noble bitters.
