Founded in 1812, Laurent Perrier has become one of the biggest estates of Champagne (5th group of Champagne). Like other widows in Champagne Mathilde Laurent-Perrier developed innovative ideas for the time. Indeed, in the late 19th century, while the soft champagne were very popular, Laurent-Perrier decided to create a "great wine without sugar", the forerunner of modern champagne. Today, Michel Fauconnet, the cellar master, watches over the "Laurent Perrier taste" characterized by increasingly large proportions of Chardonnay, for a much appreciated aperitif style. The house is also the owner of the brands Salon, Delamotte, De Castellane, Jeanmaire ... 150 hectares are in operation, representing 10% of the bottles sold. The label NM (Negotiant-Manipulant) appears on the labels when some or all of the grapes come from purchases.
The legendary Laurent Perrier Champagne House, founded in the early 19th century, offers its Grand Siècle Itération 26 cuvée, a blend of 11 of Champagne’s 319 Grands Crus. It is crafted from 60% Chardonnay and enriched with Pinot Noir, both from three different vintages, respectively 2012 (65% majority), 2008 and 2007. The wine produced is left to age in the cellar for around ten years to develop its complexity and harmony. The result is a genuinely accomplished sparkling masterpiece. The yellow colour tinged with golden hues reveals notes of dried fruit such as hazelnut and candied lemon. Freshness abounds, with floral notes and great minerality on the palate. The finish leaves an impression of almonds and fine bubbles. This wine can be served at the table, with delicate dishes, however.
