Information
Bruno Lorenzo took over the family estate in 1997, after a career in various fields including consulting in cooperage. This experience gave him a sharp eye for selecting the best oak for his casks, which are seasoned for at least three years and crafted on his property. Bruno also gained valuable experience working in vineyards in South Africa and New Zealand. When he took over the family estate, now covering 10 hectares, he chose to showcase the marley limestone slopes and old vines, mainly located on Premier Cru plots on the finest south- and south-west-facing slopes of Mercurey. The vines have long been cultivated as naturally as possible, following organic practices, without weedkillers or chemical inputs. The soils are carefully worked, and drawing inspiration from the methods of Lalou Bize-Leroy, the winegrower trains his vines high to optimise photosynthesis and berry ripening. Regarded as a veritable craftsman of Chardonnay, Bruno Lorenzo is undoubtedly a rising star worthy of your attention.
A former cooperage consultant, the winemaker carefully selects all his tools to adapt them to the terroir and the vintage. Work in the vineyard and in the winery is rigorous and precise, with low yields guaranteeing high-quality raw materials. The harvested grapes are vinified as whole bunches, they are then aged for 13 months in casks to impart finesse and structure to the cuvée before bottling.
The deep, intense colour promises a highly aromatic bouquet. The nose is indeed extremely fragrant, offering notes of ripe black fruit and subtle smoky accents. The lively, distinctively intense palate, affirms the indulgent aromas of the nose and leads to a deliciously long finish. This cuvée is sure to develop its full range of aromas over time.
