Information
Franco Lourens grew up among the vines in Paarl, South Africa. After graduating from the University of Stellenbosch, he worked with the emblematic Chris Alheit, at the head of a family domain that made the country’s wines famous. Over the years, he fell in love with the wealth and diversity of terroirs, climates and grapes in the Western Cape. That was when he decided to establish his own business, his own wines reflecting this plurality of flavours and locations, spanning all the landscapes he encountered, from mountains to plains through rivers. Franco Lourens, who works mainly with old vines, has become the king of blending, producing rich, concentrated, perfectly balanced wines that are in great demand throughout the country. Today, he holds a rightful place among South Africa’s leading wine producers.
Lourens Family Wines cultivates their vines with the utmost respect for the land and the terroir under the generous Swartland’s skies. The Skuinskap Steen vines enjoy an exceptional climate, producing grapes of remarkable quality. This wine reflects the meticulous care and expertise passed down from one generation to the next. The Chenin Blanc grape, star of this cuvée, reveals all its splendour with each bunch contributing to the wine’s aromatic wealth.
The golden colour heralds incomparable elegance. The floral and fruity aromas captivate the senses. A subtle harmony of citrus freshness and complex notes of pear and vanilla offer a refined, perfectly balanced taste experience, culminating in a lingering finish.
Start your journey with a citrus salad followed by a main course of sole meunière. Vegetarians will love the delicacy of an asparagus risotto, while a lemon tart for dessert will enhance the wine’s freshness.
This cuvée embodies the Lourens family' unwavering commitment to excellence.
