Information
Domaine Rapet Père et Fils, is a very old family domaine in Pernand-Vergelesses (confirmed by an engraved 1765 tastevin). The vineyard extends over 20 hectares, spread between Pernand-Vergelesses, Savigny-les-Beaune, Chorey-les-Beaune, Aloxe-Corton and Beaune. It is managed in a sustainable and responsible manner to minimise phytosanitary treatments. The wines are of a modern style and express the typical nature of their terroir well; they are all the more interesting as prices remain reasonable.
These 50-year-old Pinot Noir vines capture the authentic character of the Pernand-Vergelesses terroir beautifully. Nestling at the heart of the commune, the vines are carefully cultivated in line with the organic farming principles. The hand-picked grapes are carefully transported to the winery where they are meticulously sorted. The fermentation process then runs over a fortnight, punctuated by regular punching of the cap, to ensure the juices retain the aromas and colour of the skins before pressing. The cuvée is then matured in oak casks, including 20% new oak, before being bottled.
The intense red colour reveals a seductive and expressive nose characterised by notes of chocolate and subtle hints of mint. The dense, unctuous palate is magnified by generous aromas of red and black fruit, leading to an incredibly long finish.
