Information
Domaine Rapet Père et Fils, is a very old family domaine in Pernand-Vergelesses (confirmed by an engraved 1765 tastevin). The vineyard extends over 20 hectares, spread between Pernand-Vergelesses, Savigny-les-Beaune, Chorey-les-Beaune, Aloxe-Corton and Beaune. It is managed in a sustainable and responsible manner to minimise phytosanitary treatments. The wines are of a modern style and express the typical nature of their terroir well; they are all the more interesting as prices remain reasonable.
Well known for its countless renowned climats, the commune of Savigny-les-Beaune is home to Pinot Noir vines that thrive on deep, ferruginous soils. Each vine benefits from organic farming methods, ensuring its roots are naturally supplied with all the nutrients they require, and allowing the terroir to fully express its character. The hand-picked grapes are transported to the winery in small crates where they are meticulously sorted. Fermentation runs for a fortnight, with daily cap punch downs before the fruit is pressed. The process concludes with a long maturation in barrels, 20% of which are new.
The deep ruby-red colour reveals an intense nose of morello cherry, blackcurrant and raspberry mingling with hints of spice and black pepper. The slightly tannic mouth reveals a beautiful fullness and a structure that is both ample and delicate.
