Information
The Jobard family has been producing wine in Meursault for many generations. In 1993, Rémi Jobard took over from his father Charles (he had already made his first vintage in 1991). The vineyard has been organic since 2005, certified since 2011 (conversion started in 2008). Rémi Jobard is a very talented winemaker, making delicate, smooth and supple Meursaults, which age with class and whose élevage is always neatly carried out. This area is one of the best of the appellation.
The Meursault appellation reputed for producing wines of great finesse and unprecedented terroir expression is home to Chardonnay vines nestling at an altitude of around 260 metres. The limestone marl soils provide a solid foundation, rich in nutrients essential for the vines to thrive. The Chardonnay grapes are meticulously harvested once they have reached peak ripeness. Once they have reached the winery, the fruit is then processed using traditional methods, with as little human intervention as possible. Lastly, the cuvée is aged for a long period in oak casks, which confers depth and complexity.
The slightly golden colour reveals an intense bouquet of expressive lime aromas. A superb mineral structure complements aromas of fresh butter and roasted hazelnut on the palate. This cuvée promises plenty of cellaring potential, during which time the tannins will mellow over the years.
