Information
Elisabeth and Marie-Laurence Saladin, the daughters of Louis and Annick Saladin, are now at the head of the estate that has been in the family for 21 generations, since 1422. Using organic methods, the 18 hectares are located on the terraces of Saint Marcel d'Ardèche. There, they tend Carignan, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Viognier, Clairette Rose, Clairette Blanche, Bourbenlec, Marsanne and Roussanne vines.
The hand harvested grapes and carefully sorted in the winery before they are vinified using natural yeasts. It results in wines that perfectly reflect the characteristics of the terroir. The red wines are matured in oak barrels and concrete vats, while the white and rosé wines are matured in stainless steel vats.
‘Une goutte’ is the first red wine created by sisters Élisabeth and Marie-Laurence Saladin. The cuvée is a blend of several ‘gouttes’ (drops) from different Côte du Rhône terroirs, comprising 30% Grenache Noir, 30% Cinsault, 30% Syrah and 10% Clairette. The south-facing parcels, planted on a clay-limestone terroir bordered by woodland, are exclusively cultivated according to organic farming principles. The grapes are hand-picked at peak ripeness and rigorously sorting. The grapes are then vinified in whole clusters with minimal doses of sulphur. The ruddy-red colour reveals a delicious and light nose characterised by expressive notes of red and black fruit. On the palate, the perfectly integrated tannins combine beautifully with the cherry and coffee aromas of the nose leading to a fresh and persistent finish.
