Information
This cuvée was made from twelve distinct plots tucked away in various smaller regions in Ribeira Sacra. The vines are around 60 years old and grow at an altitude of 400 to 600 metres on schist and granite soil, and on steep slate hills. The grapes are crushed by foot and fermented whole with the stems in small open vats. They are then transferred to 2,000-litre tanks to be matured for one year.
The nose boasts aromas of cherries, wild strawberries, and purple flowers. The palate bursts with notes of black cherry, red grapes and blood orange, with hints of white pepper and a crisp minerality with subtle grassy undertones. The enticing cherry-red colour has glints of purple. The finish is strong, balanced and full-bodied, yet pleasantly refreshing. This wine is complex and harmonious.
It is best enjoyed at slightly warmer than ambient temperature with sweet dishes.
