    Information
    About the producer

The story of this Jura estate started with Raphaël and Adeline, who initially cultivated just half a hectare of vines and sold their grapes to the cooperative. In the spring of 1991, a devastating frost destroyed most of the Jura vineyards. This major turning point marked the start of a new chapter for the couple. Instead of selling their small crop of grapes, they decided to make their own wines with them, using the equipment of winemaker friends to produce their first vintage. The family business flourished and the couple acquired a charming farm in Montigny-lès-Arsures in 1999. Now with a vineyard boasting over 17 hectares of vines, they have been joined by their son, Marin. He has radically changed the estate’s practices and style of wines, converting the vineyard to organic winegrowing and introducing plot-based and natural winemaking techniques. Today, the wines are already of a high standard and this estate is a gem to watch closely!

    About the wine

Within the heart of the unique Jura wine region, Domaine Fumey-Chatelain makes wines that capture the unique essence of its terroir. Founded in the 1980s by Raphael Fumey and Adeline Chatelain, whose son now work with them, the estate has 17 hectares of vineyards between Montigny and Arbois.
This Savagnin has been biologically aged for 36 months, giving it a very pleasant oxidative profile, with the characteristic nut, curry and sweet spice notes that are sought after in this type of wine. It has nice volume on the palate, with an easy-drinking style.
The nose is particularly expressive, with aromas of dried fruit such as hazelnuts and almonds. On the palate, the texture is soft and smooth, and the oxidative aspect is harmoniously balanced by remarkable mineral tension. The lively, uplifting finish lingers on with hints of honey. A fresh and peppy Savagnin!
