    About the producer

Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia are childhood friends. They decided to crzeate Comando G in 2008 in the mountainous Sierra de Gredos region, not far from Madrid. The went on the search for vineyards planted in the most difficult, remote areas. Garnacha (Grenache) is their grape variety of choice, and their ambition is to make wines which rival the elegance and finesse of a Burgundian Pinot Noir or a Syrah from Hermitage. The 10-hectare domain is entirely biodynamic, and the vines aged 50 to 80 years, planted between 850 and 1,200 metres of altitude on soils of sand, granite, ardoise and quartz. The combination of well-draining soils, high altitude and a clement micro-climate guarantees a long growing season, wines which are not too high in alcohol and extremely refined.

    About the wine

In an area that nestles among the craggy peaks of the Sierra de Gredos, not far from Madrid, Daniel Jimenez-Landi and Fernando Garcia have been quietly producing some of Spain’s finest wines since 2008, under the name Comando G.
Villanueva is a seductive village red, with enticing aromas of red fruits, hints of violets and touches of granite-derived minerality. On the palate, it stands out for its freshness, finesse and elegance, with vibrant acidity and a lingering finish.
Villanueva is a pure Mediterranean wine, expressing the liveliness, luminosity and fruit of Mediterranean harvests. Originating from plots in the village of Villanueva de Ávila, it offers length, finesse and elegance.
After fermentation with whole bunches and long skin contact, it was matured in oak vats with no added SO2. Only 3,000 bottles of this wine with excellent ageing potential are produced each year.
