    Information
    About the producer

Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia are childhood friends. They decided to crzeate Comando G in 2008 in the mountainous Sierra de Gredos region, not far from Madrid. The went on the search for vineyards planted in the most difficult, remote areas. Garnacha (Grenache) is their grape variety of choice, and their ambition is to make wines which rival the elegance and finesse of a Burgundian Pinot Noir or a Syrah from Hermitage. The 10-hectare domain is entirely biodynamic, and the vines aged 50 to 80 years, planted between 850 and 1,200 metres of altitude on soils of sand, granite, ardoise and quartz. The combination of well-draining soils, high altitude and a clement micro-climate guarantees a long growing season, wines which are not too high in alcohol and extremely refined.

    About the wine

This superb single-vineyard red wine is produced from old Grenache vines, thriving at an altitude of 1100 metres along the northern slopes of the Sierra de Gredos. This cuvée celebrates the iconic Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y Léon appellation, located near Madrid. With an average age of 60 to 70 years, the Grenache vines are cultivated on steep terraces, on pure soils, mainly consisting of granite and quartz. Located near Villanueva de Ávila, the grapes are harvested at peak ripeness before being meticulously destemmed. The fruit undergoes cold maceration before fermenting in open casks. Lastly, the cuvée is aged for 14 months in French oak foudre (large capacity wooden tuns).
The ruby-red colour reveals a fragrant bouquet of intense, ripe red and black fruit, complemented by mineral, floral and spicy notes. On the palate, the freshness and minerality reveal a fine acidity, creating great tension and remarkable liveliness, culminating in a powerful, aromatic finish.
