Information
In the family for 3 generations, Domaine René Bouvier is today run by Bernard Bouvier. It has 17 hectares of vines and 18 appellations, ranging from Marsannay to Gevrey-Chambertin. The domaine covers, like many wine growers in the region, a wide range of grand crus, premier crus, villages and regional appellations. Despite the differences, the entire range has been certified organic since 2013. The age of the vines (up to 90 years old) gives these wines a complex character. This area has made considerable progress in recent years, notably thanks to finer extractions than before.
In ancient times, Cluny monks would retire to the Combe aux Moines to meditate and pray after a hard day’s work. The soils of this parcel contain fossiliferous clay and white marl. The Pinot Noir vines, on average around forty years old, grow on a gentle slope and benefit from an east-facing exposure to the sun. In the winery, the estate practises low-intervention vinification to preserve the enhanced freshness of the Pinot Noir grapes.
The clear, shimmering ruddy-red colour is sublimated by an expressive, seductive bouquet, with intense aromas of wild berries mingling perfectly with subtle floral notes. On the palate, a superb balance of liveliness and minerality leads to a long, lingering finish. This 100% Pinot Noir can be savoured young or cellared for up to ten years.
