About the producer

Simon Colin, son of the illustrious Philippe Colin, winemaker at his eponymous domain, sought to combine his winegrowing experience with his appetite for wine-related knowledge. This led him to create his own wine trading business in 2017, sourcing premium grapes from partner winemakers and friends. These past four years, he discovered biodynamic principles, which he fully embraced for their benefits on both vines and wine. A new chapter began when he was offered the opportunity to acquire some of the family vines. This is how he introduced us to his first vintage in 2021, crafted from nine hectares of vines, cultivated and vinified following a respectful family tradition. Inspired by organic and biodynamic viticulture, the domain is currently in the process of being accredited and continues to produce exceptional wines through thoughtful, balanced and sustainable work.

About the wine

This Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Chaumées by Simon Colin comes from a plot with clay-limestone soil facing south-east and benefits from optimal sunlight and the prime conditions for vines to flourish. The harvests are conducted by hand to select the best grapes. The are then carefully pressed to extract the juice in a precise manner without crushing the seeds and stems. The must is fermented in French oak barrels, providing optimal conditions for the development of complex flavours. Ageing takes place in barrels for around 12 months, enriching the aromas and texture in the wine. The fine lees are stirred regularly to add richness to the wine and to develop a silky palate.
The final product is a Chassagne-Montrachet full of citrus and fresh fruit aromas, with a distinct texture and a saline touch. It is recommended to wait around seven years before opening the bottle for the wine to reach its full potential and to unveil its complexity, but it still tastes delicious in its youth.
