Information
Domaine Marguet in the commune of Ambonnay was founded by Emile Marguet in 1875. The 10 hectare property is currently run by Benoît Marguet, who trained as a wine grower in the USA and with Mumm. The vineyard has been certified biodynamic since 2009. Benoît Marguet treats his vines with phytotherapy (the infusion and decoction of medicinal plants) and aromatherapy (use of essential oils); he also ploughs his land with horses and allows the grass to grow around the vines. In the winery, the single parcel vinification process is clean and precise and uses virtually no sulphur. The élevage is very well executed. The outcome is some very fine champagnes that are full of character and go well with food. This domain is attracting more and more champagne lovers.
Shaman Rosé 19 is a balanced blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes with the majority coming from the 2019 vintage. The Ambonnay terroir, known for its chalk-rich soils, gives this cuvée complexity and a unique freshness. The Chardonnay grapes give it elegance and intensity, meanwhile the Pinot Noir grapes from Ambonnay add fruity and indulgent notes. Vinification is carried out with care using a natural approach that limits the use of sulphur in order to preserve the authenticity of the terroir and to fully express the characteristics of the wine. Ageing is done in barrels which gives structure and depth to the Champagne.
The nose reveals captivating aromas of ripe red fruits, while the palate offers invigorating freshness and fruity flavours. The finish is pure and long, leaving a lasting impression. Shaman Rosé 19 is perfect as an aperitif or to accompany a meal. It offers a rich and balanced tasting experience, reflecting the winemaking tradition of Montagne de Reims.
