    About the producer

Lucien Le Moine is a haute-couture trader/farmer maison created by Mounir Saouma and Rotem Brakin, a Lebanese couple. After the husband spent some time in a monastery and a first attempt at the art of making wine, then embarked on enology studies, he created his structure in 1999 to offer wine from the finest terroirs. The name of the maison comes from the nickname that his friends gave him as a result of his education in the Cistercian cloister: "Le Moine", the Monk. Lucien was the name given to him by the monks. Today, he produces 38 different crus, ranging from village wines to grand crus. The vinification and élevage are very precise and well done, as delicately and naturally as possible. A must-see.

    About the wine

This Montrachet Grand Cru from Lucien Le Moine comes from some of the best terroirs in Montrachet, where the limestone and marl soils give the Chardonnay grapes a unique depth and complexity. After hand-harvesting, the grapes are vinified using a minimalist and natural method. The wines are aged on lees with gentle stirring of the lees carried out several times per month. Malolactic fermentations take place slowly, often well into the summer, under naturally cool and humid cellar conditions, minimising the use of SO2 thanks to a high level of natural CO2.
Tasting the wine reveals complex floral and fruity aromas, such as pear, apple, citrus and a smoked minerality. On the palate, it is distinguished by its body, density and its increasing purity as it aerates. Its silky texture, balance and long, vibrant finish make this a top-quality wine, often being compared to some of the best Crus in Puligny-Montrachet.
