Frédéric Magnien represents the 5th generation of wine growers of his family. He created his trading house in 1995 and is also in charge of the family domaine (Michel Magnien). He carefully selects his wine growers and the plots that interest him; he manages the harvest personally with his team. He is best known for his red wines but for several years he has also produced white. His wines are characterised by their concentration and their solid character.
This Montrachet Grand Cru comes from vines grown on soils which have a low clay and limestone content. Located in the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, this terroir benefits from an ideal exposure which ensures perfect maturation of the grapes. The vines, rooted in pebbly soil, produce fruits of exceptional quality and harvests are carried out by hand to allow for rigorous selection of the grapes. These are delicately pressed, then fermented and the resulting wine is aged in oak barrels. Ageing is carried out on fine lees with regular stirring of the lees, giving roundness and complexity to the Montrachet.
Tasting this wine reveals a sensational golden colour with a nose rich in aromas of yellow fruits, spices and cream with a subtle minerality. On the palate, it is powerful, dense and harmonious with an exceptional length. This wine goes perfectly with refined dishes such as lobster roasted in butter, Saint-Jacques scallops with truffle or porcini mushroom risotto.
