About the producer

Born in 1777, Nicole Barbe Ponsardin married François Clicquot in 1798. Widowed at the age of 27, she resumed the business of her deceased husband. While Europe is ablaze, she managed to ship this champagne worldwide. Bold and imaginative, she presents her champagne all over Europe. Anxious to perfection, she visits the cellars at night to ensure the successful development of her vintages. She invented vintage and rosé Champagne as well as the riddling table which is used to clarify sparkling wines, bought plots in the best vineyards and actively fought against counterfeits. Madame Veuve Clicquot died in 1866 at the age of 89.
Created in tribute to Madame Clicquot, La Grande Dame is marked by the pursuit of excellence. From the choice of grapes for this very special wine, plot-by-plot vinification to the complexity of the blend composed of eight Grand Cru and the minimum ageing of six years to reach maturity, everything is done to create a great wine of Champagne.
The house also works to protect the vine and the environment by reducing the use of agrochemical products.

About the wine

Veuve Clicquot Brut Rosé, born of a tradition dating back to 1818 when Madame Clicquot created the first blended rosé in the Champagne region, perpetuates an exceptional savoir-faire. This Champagne is a precise blend of 50 to 60 different crus, including up to 45% reserve wines to maintain consistent quality. Pinot Noir accounts for 50% of the blend, providing structure and intensity, followed by Meunier (20%) adding roundness and fruitiness, and Chardonnay (30%) imparting freshness and elegance. The juice is topped up with Pinot Noir red wine to achieve its characteristic pink hue.
After a three-year maturation period in the house's historic chalk pits, this brut displays a bright pink colour and a rich aromatic profile. Notes of red and black fruit, cherry, strawberry, raspberry and blueberry combine with spices including white pepper and saffron, as well as hints of pastries such as biscuit and croissant. The complex bouquet is elevated by hints of orange zest, gingerbread and toasted bread. And the result is a Champagne offering a combination of freshness, roundness, depth and power, perfect for refined tasting occasions.
