Information
Jérémy Carteret is one of Burgundy’s more discreet but extremely talented winemakers. He has worked alongside Benjamin Leroux, the emblematic winemaker of the Domaine Comte Armand in Pommard and owner of a wine merchant company that he set up in 2007, for several years. His life turned around when Benjamin Leroux asked him to look after an old Pinot Noir vineyard. He accepted immediately and put his heart and soul into his natural wine project in Monthélie. The relationship between these two friends is so strong that Benjamin also provides Jérémy with the cellar to bottle and store his cuvées. Jérémy unveiled his first cuvée, an exceptional 2020 vintage red Burgundy, aged in amphora for ten months. This is a reference that the greatest amateurs of natural wines are bound to snap up, as the young winemaker only produced 650 bottles.
This wine, from the renowned vineyards of Burgundy, showcases the elegance of Chardonnay grown on the region’s distinctive clay-limestone soils. These mineral-rich soils impart a delightful minerality and an aromatic profile that truly reflects the identity of the terroir. Each plot is cultivated following sustainable practices, ensuring a harmonious balance between the winemaker and the land. In the winery, the vinification process is performed in stainless steel vats to preserve the freshness and intensity of the aromas, with partial ageing in oak barrels to add a subtle roundness.
The cuvée reveals an elegant pale yellow hue, enhanced by golden reflections The nose is aromatic and intense, offering a bouquet of white flowers, citrus, and peach. The palate is lively at first, followed by a beautiful minerality and a smooth, lingering finish with fresh fruit flavours and a delicate buttery note.
