    Information
    About the producer

The story of this estate started in 2006 when Adrien Berlioz moved to Savoy. The younger cousin of his neighbour Gilles Berlioz, the winemaker has been producing cuvées packed with vitality and authenticity from his 20 hectares of vines in Chignin. The vineyard includes a rich variety of terroirs and plots of land, and multiple grape varieties allowing for the production of wines with highly distinct aromas. The soil is regularly tilled by hand and grass cover is applied to ensure each vine draws all the nutrients and minerals it requires from the earth. The grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness and vinified in stainless steel vats to preserve their energy and freshness. Interventions and the use of sulphur are also kept to a minimum. Certified organic since 2009 and Demeter biodynamic since 2020, Adrien Berlioz works in a way that respects the vines, biodiversity and the human touch required to make lovely wine.

    About the wine

Marcelle is a cuvée born in the heart of the Combe de Savoie, on steep, south-facing slopes in the Chignin-Bergeron sector, where limestone scree mingles with red clay. The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, in harmony with natural balance. After a slow, gentle pressing, the must ferments with native yeasts, without any oenological inputs. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in casks and big barrels, allowing for gentle oxygen exchange. The wine is then aged on fine lees for ten months, with minimal stirring, to preserve precision and finesse.
The pale yellow hue is graced with golden glints. The nose is intense and complex, combining aromas of juicy pear, citrus and fresh almond with smoky, stony and floral notes. On the palate, the attack is lively and taut, almost chiselled, revealing a generous texture with flavours of quince, candied lemon and lime tree blossom.
