Information
About the producer

Domaine Roche de Bellene was created in 2005 by Nicolas Potel after the purchase of several plots of vines ranging from Santenay to Vosne Romanée. The vines are aged from 50 to 110 years old and are grown organically. The domaine then launched a trading business under the name of Roche de Bellene which is discussed here.

About the wine

The Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, located in the south of the Côte de Nuits, is emblematic of Burgundy's iconic wine region. The prestigious Les Boudots climat sits on stony clay-limestone soils, rich in silt, which promote beautiful ripening of Pinot Noir grapes while preserving balanced acidity and giving the wine a silky texture and wonderful aromatic complexity. The grapes are harvested by hand then sorted twice: once in the vineyard and again in the cellar, before being fermented using indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for around 16 months in 30% new oak barrels, adding both finesse and patina.
This deep ruby-red wine has an elegant and complex nose, blending aromas of red fruits, withered roses, sweet spices and a subtle hint of wood. The palate is structured yet velvety revealing a great density, a mineral tension and a persistent finish.
