Information
About the producer

Born into a family of winemakers, Pierric Brochet obtained an Advanced Technical Certificate in viticulture and oenology in Avize before joining the Jacques Selosse estate. During this period that he discovered an alternative method aimed at encouraging the natural and authentic expression of the terroir. With his head brimming with ideas, he set up his own estate in Taissy, south of Reims, buying a few plots of vines to craft superb Champagnes. In the vineyard, chemical fertilisers and weedkillers have been rejected in favour of precise, meticulous work on the soil. The estate’s first vintage was unveiled in 2019, and perfectly embodies the sustainable and natural methods acquired during Pierric’s internship, reflecting the individual personality of each parcel. In the winery, Pierric uses traditional, low-intervention winemaking methods to produce powerful, elegant, lightly sparkling cuvées that are sure to be talked about for years to come.

About the wine

Produced exclusively from Montagne de Reims Grand Cru, particularly Verzenay and Verzy, this wine fully embodies the nobility of the terroir, which is deemed one of the most prestigious in the appellation. In the cellar, vinification, carried out using the solera system, gives Autochtone its unique character. Inspired by practices from Andalucia, this method involves blending wines from several vintages in a mother vat, which is replenished each year with the latest harvest. Fermentation occurs naturally without yeasts, in used barrels that are sure to have held several wines before. Extended ageing on lees allows gentle oxidation that enhances tertiary aromas. The second fermentation in the bottle is followed by ageing on slats for over 4 years. The extra-dry blend scrupulously respects the identity of the terroir and the purity of the grape variety.
This pale gold wine with flashes of copper has an intense and complex nose blending aromas of fresh red fruits, orange peel and toast. The palate is full, structured and chalky leading to a mouthwatering, almost tannic finish.
