Information
This exceptional Extra Brut Champagne comes from a walled vineyard at the heart of the prestigious Premier cru village of Vertus, on the Côte des Blancs. A monopole owned by the Fourny family, this historic clos enjoys a unique microclimate that allows the grapes to reach perfect ripeness. The grapes are harvested by hand, with rigorous parcel selection. Fermentation takes place in oak casks with native yeasts, followed by seven months’ ageing on the fine lees. The wine then spends more than six years ageing on laths, with no malolactic fermentation, preserving its hallmark tension and freshness. The Extra-Brut dosage allows the wine’s natural character to shine through.
In the glass, the pale golden hue is enlivened by a stream of fine bubbles. The nose reveals delicate aromas of citrus zest, white flowers, fresh hazelnut and damp chalk. The palate is slender, saline and taut, leading to a long, chalky finish.
