Information
This Extra Brut cuvée is a pure expression of Champagne terroir, produced in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in the Premier cru village of Vertus. This renowned climat is known for producing some of Champagne’s finest Blanc de Blancs. Its ideal south-easterly aspect and shallow chalk soils give the wines their hallmark finesse, tension and remarkable ageing potential. Rich in trace elements, the chalk of Vertus encourages slow, even ripening and gives the wine its distinctive mineral character. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness. Part of the wine is vinified in oak casks, without malolactic fermentation, preserving its freshness and taut structure. It then spends several months ageing on fine lees before ageing more than five years on laths in the cellar.
The pale hue is lifted by silvery highlights and a remarkably fine mousse. The precise nose reveals aromas of orange blossom, lemon zest, fresh almond and wet stone. The palate is chiselled, linear and mouth-watering, leading to a long, saline finish that bears the unmistakable hallmark of the chalk soils of Vertus.
