About the producer

Domaine Antonin Guyon in Sauvigny-lès-Beaune was founded by Antonin Guyon in the 1960s before he passed on the torch to his son Dominique in 1970. At this time the domain spanned 22 hectares on the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits. Since then, the vineyard has expanded to the size of 48 hectares, thus covering several appellations in the Côte-de-Nuits and Côte-de-Beaune and including several premiers crus and grands crus. These are powerful wines in a classic style. The domain is considered one of the best in the Côte de Beaune.

About the wine

The Corton hillside faces south-east and east, at altitudes ranging from 250 to 330 metres. The soils are clay-limestone, with a high proportion of iron-rich marls on the upper slopes and stonier, deeper soils mid-slope. The parcel farmed by Antonin Guyon lies within historic localities, benefiting from optimal sunshine and excellent natural drainage. The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by rigorous sorting both in the vineyard and at the winery. Fermentation takes place in open vats over around 20 days, with manual punch-downs to extract colour and structure while preserving finesse. The wine is then aged for 16 months in French oak casks, including around 35% new oak, achieving a balance between elegant oak influence and purity of fruit.
The ruby hue is tinged with garnet highlights. The complex, captivating nose reveals aromas of dark fruit, violet, sweet spices and sandalwood, with a subtle smoky note. Broad and structured on the palate, the wine is silky in texture, with firm yet refined tannins supported by a finely judged acidity.
