Information
This conveniently located estate in Vosne-Romanée was founded in 2017 by Olivier and Guillaume Boigey, two brothers who took over the formerly leased out family vineyard. Just a stone’s throw from Domaine Romanée Conti, the estate consists of over three hectares of vines, stretching across the emblematic communes of Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Echezeaux, including two village appellations, three Premiers Crus and one Grand Cru. The brothers have adopted sustainable viticulture methods to perpetuate the family tradition, convinced of the benefits it has for the fruit and the wine. In the vineyard, all treatments are organic. The estate is in the process of obtaining its High Environmental Value certification. While the estate, which produces its first vintage in 2019, currently only makes red wines, a few plots of Chardonnay vines have been planted. Rising stars of the region, the pair are major players of the Côte de Nuits, prioritising the quality of the terroir and the fruit, and producing only limited quantities of wine, through environmentally friendly viticulture and vinification methods.
Nestled in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée is one of Burgundy’s most prestigious appellations. The Aux Jachées parcel lies at the foot of the slope, at the northern entrance to the village, close to some of its most legendary climats. Its name refers to land that was once left fallow before being entirely replanted with vines. The clay-rich clay-limestone marl soils give the wine its structure, depth and remarkable aromatic complexity. In the winery, vinification follows traditional, low-intervention methods. Fermentation takes place in open vats with native yeasts, while a 20-day maceration is punctuated by gentle manual punch-downs. The wine is then aged for 14 months in French oak casks, refining the tannins and adding complexity without overshadowing the fruit.
In the glass, the wine shows a bright, intense ruby hue. The refined, racy bouquet reveals aromas of black cherry, violet and peony, complemented by subtle notes of undergrowth and sweet spice. Elegant and effortlessly flowing on the palate, it combines concentration with fine-grained tannins and a beautifully poised tension.
