Information
Alexis Seguin owned a small vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin, where he was already grafting vines. During the terrible phylloxera crisis that decimated so many Burgundy vineyards, Alexis was one of the first in his region to combat the disease by grafting with American wood, a feat that won him numerous awards in the late 1980s. His three children, Aristide, Blanche and Hippolyte, inherited the estate in the 1920s. Hippolyte inherited the house and half an hectare of vines. In 1950, Pierre, Hippolyte’s son, expanded the family business considerably, acquiring new plots before building a new, more modern winery in 1960. Over the years, successive winemakers have continued to develop the estate. Jérôme Seguin has been cultivating the estate’s six hectares of vines since 2006. The estate is so successful and its wines so sought-after that over 70% of its production is exported.
