Old Pinot Noir vines, planted on well-exposed slopes in the heart of the Mercurey appellation, benefit from a favourable semi-continental climate. The soils are mainly composed of limestone marls and red clays, giving the wine power and structure while preserving a mineral freshness that balances the natural generosity of Pinot Noir. Vinification follows a traditional approach, with spontaneous fermentation during a fifteen-day maceration in stainless-steel vats. The wine is then aged for 12 months in cask, with 20% new oak.
In the glass, the wine displays an intense ruby hue with garnet glints. The complex, expressive nose is dominated by red and black fruit, lifted by spicy notes, subtle smoky nuances and nicely integrated oak. On the palate, a broad and generous attack reveals supple yet structured tannins. The finish is long and persistent, marked by morello cherry, spice and a delicate mineral touch.
