Information
The Traminer vines are planted on the slopes of Husseren-les-Châteaux, overlooking Eguisheim at the heart of the Alsace Wine Route. The clay-limestone marl soils mixed with sandstone are highly draining and rich in minerals. After manual harvests, the grapes undergo rigorous selection. The fruit then ferments with native yeasts and no inputs. A several week-long skin maceration period extracts colour, tannins and structure. The wine is aged for an extended period in foudres (large wooden tuns) on the lees, without stirring.
The bright orange hue is slightly hazy due to the absence of filtration. The complex, bewitching bouquet reveals intense aromas of candied citrus and dried rose, lifted by touches of oriental spice. On the palate, the broad, textured body offers a delicious interplay of exotic fruit and dried herbs, carried by a persistent mineral acidity leading gently into a fruit-driven, persistent finish.
