Information
Based in Beaune, it combines historic stature with remarkable vitality, continuing to attract leading figures of the wine world to shape and interpret its many terroirs. Now owned by an American family, the wines are crafted under the assured direction of Frédéric Barnier, who safeguards the house’s hallmark precision and consistency. These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. A house where scale never eclipses identity, and tradition continues to shape every bottle.
The Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation comprises around twenty Premier Cru climats, including the Clos des Corvées, situated to the south of the village. This terroir has long enjoyed a strong reputation for producing powerful, age-worthy wines. The Pinot Noir vines face east and south-east on clay-limestone soils mixed with marl, gravel and iron-rich elements. After manual harvests, the fruit is vinified following traditional methods and a low-intervention approach. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel vats with native yeasts over a four-week vatting period. The wine is then aged for 15 months in French oak casks, with 30% new wood.
The ruby-red hue shows garnet highlights. The nose offers black cherry, blackberry, violet and sweet spice, lifted by a mineral touch characteristic of limestone terroirs. The palate is generous and well structured, with firm yet elegant tannins leading into a long, persistent finish carried by black fruit and spice notes.
