Information
Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, the Domaine Morey-Coffinet is a 8.5 hectare vineyard resulting from joining the domaines of Marc Morey and Fernand Coffinet. Most of the vineyards are located in Chassagne-Montrachet, including the famous premier crus la Romanée, Remilly and les Caillerets, but the domaine also has plots in Puligny-Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet. The vines are grown organically (under certification) and the aging is done in oak barrels which can be up to 60% new depending on the vintages and cuvées.
Saint-Aubin, a village of the Côte de Beaune, has produced Chardonnay for centuries. Its Premier Crus, including Les Frionnes, lie on south- and south-east-facing slopes, benefiting from excellent light and well-suited soils. The Chardonnay vines draw deeply from limestone marls rich in mineral elements, providing all the nutrients required for their development. Vinification follows classic Burgundian tradition, with ageing for 14 months on fine lees. The wine is then bottled with light filtration and trace amounts of sulphur.
In the glass, the wine reveals a bright, slightly golden hue. The expressive nose offers white flowers and yellow fruit notes lifted by a touch of hazelnut. On the palate, a fresh first sip leads into a creamy and smooth mid-palate unfolding towards a deliciously long, saline finish.
