Information
Domaine Roche de Bellene was created in 2005 by Nicolas Potel after the purchase of several plots of vines ranging from Santenay to Vosne Romanée. The vines are aged from 50 to 110 years old and are grown organically. The domaine then launched a trading business under the name of Roche de Bellene which is discussed here.
Les Petits Monts is a Vosne-Romanée climat located just above the Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grands Crus. Its name refers to the small rise that defines the parcel. The brown limestone soils, composed of marls and shallow pebbly scree, bring finesse and tension to the wine. The hand-picked grapes are vinified according to traditional methods. The fruit is partially destemmed, then ferments spontaneously in vat with regular punch-downs and pump-overs. The wine is subsequently aged for 16 months in cask, with a proportion of new oak.
The wine shows a bright ruby hue, promising aromatic richness. The nose is marked by red and black fruit aromas, lifted by floral notes and fine spice, alongside subtle oak nuances. On the palate, a silky attack reveals fine tannins, leading into a long, persistent and fruit-driven finish.
