Information
The Fixin appellation, located at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, is one of the region’s oldest. Clos Napoléon is a monopole of Domaine Pierre Gelin, acquired in 1961 by Pierre Gelin. This historic clos, covering almost two hectares, is planted with fifty-seven-year-old vines that naturally produce low yields and exceptional concentration. The grapes are carefully hand-picked at peak ripeness and Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless-steel vats with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in casks, with 20% new oak, for around 20 months.
The wine shows a bright, clear ruby hue. The bouquet offers ripe red fruit and floral notes, lifted by subtle hints of spice. On the palate, fine, smooth tannins mingle with generous red fruit, leading into a persistent finish offering a subtle touch of oak.
