Information
The Rocche dell’Annunziata cru in La Morra is considered one of Barolo’s great terroirs. The Nebbiolo vines grow on south-east and south-west facing slopes at around 250 metres in altitude, benefiting from excellent exposure throughout the day. The limestone soils mixed with clay and fine sand are known for giving Nebbiolo a more velvety, elegant style than the more compact soils of Serralunga or Monforte. The grapes are hand-harvested at peak ripeness in late October. The fruit undergoes a long, traditional maceration of around 30 days with native yeasts. The wine is then carefully aged in large Slavonian oak tuns.
The wine shows a garnet-red hue, that will develop tile-red highlights with age. The intense, refined nose weaves dried rose, violet and black cherry with sweet spice and leather. On the palate, smooth tannins are lifted by lively acidity, leading into a deeply long, fruit-driven finish.
